Paradise in La Paz

Activities In Baja

Posted on March 22, 2009 Written by Lorenzo

How does one leave the soothing sound of gentle waves and spectacular sunsets of La Paz?

Hard as it is, there is so much to do in this region that my wife and I have to temper our exuberance to do it all the first year.

So why did we buy a house in La Paz? Why might you want to visit or move to Baja, and what is the right place for you?

If living at the “paradise of the sea”  is not enough, consider golfing, boating, whale watching, kayaking with whale sharks, climbing canyon walls to view ancient cave paintings, photographing landscapes and animals you cannot find anywhere else, camping and hiking in the mountains and canyons, drinking coffee on your patio in T-shirts and shorts in December, sipping wine or a margarita as the flaming red sun sets over the Bay of La Paz and Sea of Cortez, visiting museums, day trips to surf, find treasures at art galleries,  or discover the first missions of California … shall I go on?

You get the picture … our biggest challenge is learning how to enjoy Mexican time!

Thank goodness for our wonderful new friends Baja friends who patiently wait for us to decompress each time we visit.

In the next few posts I’ll share the joy of our relaxed lifestyle, then I’ll gather the images filling up my hard drive and share the excitement.

Inbetween, we’ll cover issues such as modes of travel, immigration, shopping and buying or selling real estate in La Paz.

Welcome To La Paz, Mexico!

In Mexico, my name is Lorenzo. I want to share with you one of the most wonderful cities in all of Mexico: La Paz.

John Steinbeck wrote about La Paz in his novel “The Pearl,” as well as the non-fiction “Logs From The Sea Of Cortez.” Yet many people don’t really know much about the “City of Peace” … even where it is.

Its central location is one of the best things going for La Paz. Nestled against the Sea of Cortez, in the state of Baja California Sur (BCS), about three hours north of both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, La Paz is close to the cities, boating, beach and sea activities, golfing and everything else that makes Baja Sur a primo vacation and living destination.
My wife and I recently purchased a home in La Paz, where we will spend much of our time away from our other home in Washington State, USA. If you are planning your vacation to Baja, information that unfolds here will help you plan your trip. If you want to purchase a home in La Paz – or anywhere in Mexico – we’ll share some vital information to make your transition easier.

When you fall in love with the City of Peace, we welcome you to become our vecino (neighbor).
